Poem for the Golden Age

·

I beg your pardon

Didn’t this used to be a rose garden
A place of earth and green
where diverse colors
graced the scene

Christened by Jackie O
Long before the apprentice show
back when
it used to snow

Now all hueless white stone
White tables white chairs
white dreams
white hairs

No more magans in the mud
Getting stuck in high heels
muddy deals
muddy meals

No blood and soil here
Just sweet concrete
stemmed umbrellas
and citronella

I beg your pardon
No, seriously
Pardon me

brought to you, and enabled, by Rule of Lawler
