Poem for the Golden Age

·

This is the Golden Age
End of the Golden Rule
Time to do unto others
Before they do unto you

Time for a Golden Ruler
Like Sun King of old
With the vision to build
A grand ballroom of gold

A tribute to myself
Where toadies can gather
Spilling their riches
Their pith and their blather

No royal throne for me
Just the best chair
Boosted with lighting
To highlight my hair

Fill it all with filigree
Exquisite twisting wire of gold
To admire over dessert
Of golden sponge cake roll

Mar-a-Lago on the Potomac
Built with plundered treasure
For the king of the sclerotic
To take each subject's measure

I might have to stay here
It gets better each day
Watching people grovel
Asking how much to pay

Thank you for your attention to this matter
And have a nice day.
